Team Rocket is a criminal organization in the Pokemon Go game online that will do everything it can to take over existing PokeStops. The goal is for the Rocket team to be able to take Pokemon to become Shadow Pokemon who have higher emotions in defeating the trainers’ Pokemon. Team Rocket has many Grunts that can be easily found at PokeStops around the trainer. Accept the challenge to compete in order to save the Shadow Pokemon and be healed.
Trainers who have reached level 8 can of course take over PokeStops controlled by the Rocket team or play matches on the Rocket team’s balloons. There are 3x matches with each different Pokemon. Successfully winning the challenge, trainers will get the opportunity to get the Rocket team’s first 1 Pokemon to save.
Battling
When they have met the Rocket team, trainers can start a Pokemon battle with them. This battle is similar to Trainer Battles in general with several differences such as:
- The Pokemon that the Rocket team has, are all Shadow Pokemon.
- Trainer Pokemon are not healed automatically after battles.
- Pokemon trainers should use Potions and Revive if necessary.
- Trainer Battle Leagues do not apply, so Trainers are allowed to use any Pokemon to battle Team GO Rocket member Pokemon.
- Grunts, including Jessie and James, will never use Protect Shields to defend against an attack by a Trainer’s Pokemon. However, Leader and Giovanni will use Protect Shields. They will always protect (if they still exist), whatever the situation.
Trainers were initially unable to use items when selecting Pokemon before a Rocket team battle. This is no longer the case as it can now be used before battles similar to Gym or Raid battles.
To be able to fight against the Leader or Giovanni, you need Rocket Radar or Super Radar to track the whereabouts of the Rocket team. When you lose a match, the item will not disappear, so it can be used again to challenge the Rocket team again. By successfully winning the match, trainers will get prizes in the form of Stardust, XP, Lure Modules, and several other interesting items. By defeating the Grunts, Jessie, James, and the Leader will earn Hero medals. When you successfully defeat Giovanni, you will get an Ultra Hero Medal.
Rescuing Shadow Pokémon
When they win a match against Team Rocket, trainers will get the opportunity to catch 1 Shadow Pokemon from the battle. Trainers will receive a number of Premier Balls that are used to catch Shadow Pokemon.
The Shadow Pokemon available to catch are usually, but not always, the first Pokemon to battle. If the Trainer wins against Giovanni, the Shadow Pokémon that can be caught is Giovanni’s used Shadow Legendary Pokémon, which always has a 100% catch rate. The catchable Shadow Pokemon of Jessie, James, and Leader can glow.
Shadow Pokemon move and attack faster than normal Pokemon, making them somewhat difficult to catch. To make it easier for trainers to catch these Pokemon more easily, they can use Nanab Berry which will make the Pokemon silent for a few seconds.
